The following information is needed when requesting TGTP:

  • Student's UIN
  • Student's Full Name
  • Student's Academic Level (undergraduate, graduate, professional)
  • TGTP Account Number. The TGTP Account Number can be found on the TGTP Card sent to you by mail from the TGTP Office
  • The type of plan that was purchased (Junior/Senior, Private, Senior/University).
How Payment is Made
  1. An estimated conditional credit will be posted for student-activated accounts prior to the first day of class.
    • Students will be responsible for any charges not covered by TGTP.
    • The conditional credit does not signify payment
  2. A Non-Resident Tuition Waiver will be applied to student accounts as needed.
  3. Texas A&M University will invoice TGTP for eligible charges for the semester after the 20th class day.
  4. Once payment is received from TGTP, adjustments may be made according to the benefits available.
TGTP Non-Resident Waiver
  • A Non-Resident Tuition waiver will only be applied to semesters that TGTP is being used.
  • If the student wishes to change their Residency status, please visit the Registrar’s website for further information.
Plan Removal

Students and guardians may request to remove their plan before the first due date of any semester or before the semester begins. The conditional credit may not be removed after school has started.

Requests for removal can be sent to ssb@tamu.edu with a valid UIN, student’s full name, and the term the student is requesting TGTP be removed for.

Summer Semester
Students must send submit a request to Student Business Services, via the Request TGTP form, prior to 5:00 pm on the first due date of a Summer semester. Students who fail to notify SBS of their intent to use TGTP for Summer terms prior to the deadline will have to request benefits directly from TGTP. The request to use TGTP funds for the Summer will cover all Summer terms the student is enrolled for; amounts will not be prorated for each term.

  1. Contact the Education Abroad Office at tcabroad@tamu.edu
  2. The Study Abroad office will work with SBS to apply TGTP.
    • TGTP will be applied by using the reimbursement rates for the type of plan purchased multiplied by the number of credit hours
  3. TGTP will not pay for deposits or application fees
Fee Term Benefit and TGTP
Texas A&M University will bill the Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan for all benefits available.
Exhaustion of Benefits
It is the student's responsibility to notify Student Business Services when hours and fee terms are running out of their plan. Failure to notify Student Business Services may result in an unexpected balance due to the student account. This is also referred to as charge-back due to an insufficient TGTP benefit(s). When a student's hours or fee benefits become insufficient, the plan will no longer apply to the student account automatically for the fall and spring semesters. Students will need to contact Student Business Services before the first day of classes to request to use any balance of benefits in the event this occurs. Students who fail to notify Student Business Services of their intent to use their plan before classes begin may result in the inability to use their plan that semester.
Graduate Tuition and Fees
Students may use their plan toward graduate school at TAMU. The plan will pay the undergraduate reimbursement rates for the type of plan purchased. Students will be responsible for amounts billed over the state average. Contact the Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan for more information on unused plan hours and benefits.
TGTP Office
If you would like to verify your hours or get more information about your plan, The Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan Office can be contacted through the State Comptroller's office at (800) 531-5441. This information is also available on the back of the Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan ID card. Please visit Texas Guaranteed Tuition Fund (formerly the Texas Tomorrow Fund) for more information.
